Abstract

In Russia, the three active protection systems with hardkill capabilities that have come the furthest in development is "Drozd", "Arena", and "Afghanit". Drozd and Arena are older and more known systems that have been developed since the 1980s, and are likely still being developed today. Afghanit is Russias newest active protection system, and is installed in the next-generation main battle tank "T-14". The soft-kill capabilities of Aghanit looks to be of significant importance when compared to previous active protection systems developed in russia. This report aims to identify the different components and characteristics for the different active protection systems in Russia.
