Abstract

This report describes the development of a Multi Sample Inlet made for the SAUNA Field system and its applications. SAUNA Field is a system for measurement of low levels of radio xenon in sub-soil gas samples, primarily to be used in an On-Site Inspection (OSI) under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The Multi Sample Inlet allows the operator to attach several samples to the system for automatic processing and analysis, which facilitates the work for the operator. The inlet is also equipped with the possibility to automatically read the sample information, by using radio frequency identification (RFID) that can be integrated with the sample container. This allows for an automatic and more secure chain-of-custody for the whole sample processing chain during an OSI. RFID for chain-of-custody and how it can be implemented in all noble gas OSI equipment and how this might improve and effect an inspection, is also covered in this report
