Abstract

In the area of radio communications, simulations are used to evaluate techniques with respect to properties such as connectivity, capacity and robustness of radio networks. As the Swedish Armed Forces are expanding to larger organizational unit structures, there is a need for evaluation of radio networks in larger organizational structures. Ensuring the validity of simulations of radio networks within a brigade requires a tactically relevant brigade scenario. For radio network simulations, the basic implementation of a tactical brigade scenario needs to contain both coordinates of all radio nodes and the calculated path loss between all pairs of radio nodes in the scenario. The goal of the work described in this report is a method to compile these components. The method includes choice of tools, programs and calculation models. Due to the large number of platforms in a brigade, the creation of a scenario will be time consuming. The realizability of this is therefore evaluated in this report, with the conclution that it is, using existing tools and models, feasible with reasonable time and resources.
