Abstract
This work has been carried out as part of an assignment from, and together with, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). The products described in this report have been developed to provide initial situational awareness to the first responders and rescue services for response planning as well as usage for their own protection in case of a nuclear explosion on, or in close proximity to, Swedish territory. The report describes transparent templates, or oleates, to illustrate the effects of a nuclear explosion. These have been developed for use on two different map scales (1:50,000 and 1:250,000). The templates describe the effects of direct effects (shock waves, heat waves and initial radiation) and the effects of radioactive deposition from a nuclear explosion at ground level. The intended use is to apply these templates on top of physical maps in scale 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 to act as support in response planning, etc. Instructions for how these templates can be used are given in "Bilaga 1". In "Bilaga 2", various forms of mathematical expressions for calculating the change in the radiation dose rate and radiation dose as functions of time of exposure and time after explosion (decay) are described.
