A foundation for a component database has been developed in C# in order to facilitate gathering and storing of information related to different components and subsystems that appear in military platforms and how they can be modelled within target descriptions in AVAL. The database provides developers of target descriptions with a set of pre-made puzzle pieces that can be used in different target descriptions, and encourages the use of identical geometry and damage criteria between target descriptions. This should eventually, when the database has been filled with data, lead to increased traceability and unity between targets descriptions.
