This report provides an overview of a number of technologies that can serve as markers and/or taggants for commercial explosives and blasting components. The purpose being to obstruct the illegal use of these products, and to provide further requisites for tracking the source of each explosive item upon encounter, pre- as well as post blast. The report briefly describes the context and relevance, and provides a schematic description of different marking/tagging technologies. A few technologies are, from a technological and contextual perspective, deemed specifically interesting to study further and to evaluate with a view to future implementation.
