International Military Missions

FOI has a longstanding programme dedicated to research on international military missions.

FOI has extensive experience conducting research and analysis on international military missions. This research strand focuses primarily on the following themes:

• Swedish participation in international peace support and military capacity building missions
• Security policy dimensions of conflicts and peace processes
• Key actors in international military missions
• Mission-related norms and concepts, including security sector reform (SSR), civil-military cooperation, and women, peace and security (UNSCR 1325).

The programme’s main client is the Swedish Ministry of Defence.
