Abstract
The project Simulation-based support for gaming and valuation (SSSV), within the assignment Support for gaming and valuation, was tasked to support the development of simulation models, contributing to the development of adjudication data with results from simulation and data analysis. The focus of the project SSSV has been on developing the ability to produce adjudication data for ground combat, using simulation as a method. Appropriate simulation models and inputs are necessary to produce relevant basic data. An earlier inventory indicates a lack of simulation models relevant to the task. Gaming, studies and evaluation are activities that are supported by simulation at different levels. Transferring results from technical system models to more general issues is a complex problem. Simulation models above system-level are needed in order to make a significant contribution to the ability to produce adjudication data. The purpose of this report is to describe the preconditions for the project, and give the reader an understanding of the complexity and multidimensionality of developing a simulation model for mechanized ground combat to evaluate different types of situations. As the project has progressed, it has become obvious that the project will provide a foundation that has shown good potential for accomplishing the goals. Completing the development is a long term commitment that requires clear governance and adequate resources over the time.
