Abstract

This report describes the progress made during the initial year of the projects Synthetic Environments and Sensor simulation. The aim of the project is to develop methods for automatic construction of terrain models based on sensor data, in this case data from laser radar. Moreover, the need for high resolution terrain data in mission planning, command and control and review and analysis systems is discussed. The need for accurate sensor simulation in tactical simulations, virtual prototypes and SBA is also discussed.
