Abstract
FOI has supported the investigation of the DC-3 attacked June 13, 1952, by identifying damages on the salvaged plane and conducting simulations of the attack. This report shows the simulations and outlines the models used. The points where the simulated fragments hit the plane are in good agreement with the identified damages. The probability of crew members being hit by fragments during the attack is estimated. These estimations show a low probability that all onboard would be hit by fragments. Among the four crew members not found are three of the crew members that has the lowest probability of being hit by fragments according to the simulations. A plane has great manoeuvrability in the air, which results in an inability of the simulations to give an unambiguous statement on the number of attacks conducted by the MIG 15, despite the DC-3 was hit both on the top and bottom sides.
