Abstract
This document describes the design of the technical simulation framework that has been developed for the C2WS (Command and Control Warfare Simulator). A key concept in the design has been reusability. The EWSim (Electronic Warfare Simulation Interface Model) framework has a lot of relevant features already developed and for this reason it has been used as a starting point and has now been further extended to meet the requirements of the C2WS. The framework consists of three main parts, scenario configuration, dynamic simulation models, and a logging/analyzing tool. The design allows various platforms (such as tanks, helicopters etc) to be configured and equipped with a set of different components (i.e. sensors and weapon systems). Platforms and equipments can then be simulated distributed over a network using HLA (High Level Architecture) according to the IEEE 1516 standard. This document focuses on the new features which mainly include a networking model with routing that can be affected by EW (Electronic Warfare) and CNO (Computer Network Operations). Also additional Command and Control functionality and user interfaces presenting data to the staff commander has been developed.
