FMV initiated the project Radio Architecture to take on the challenge to structure and overview the radio domain within the armed forces. The project models the radio systems and their context according to the architectural framework MODAF (Ministry of Defence Architectural Framework). By collecting and analyzing current sources on for example capabilities, activities, military units, radio systems, and communications requirements information was structured in an architecture database using the MooD tool. Small excerpts and examples are shown in this report. The project contributes with insights both on how a MODAF architecture increases the possibilities of overview, traceability and problem identification and on the limitations of the current sources regarding content and form. The report also gives an outlook for future work.
