Abstract

The work described in this report have been done in order to develop a simplified channel and link model to be used in an urban demonstration scenario during autumn 2008. The scenario included activities such as intelligence, reconnaissance and conflict among civilians, [1]. The simplified channel model is based on the estimated channel parameters from MIMO-measurements (Multiple Input Multiple Output) performed in an urban environment, [2]. The channel model handles the effects of both the large- and small-scale fading processes. The results from the model are used to calculate the available capacity for a SISO-system (Single Input Single Output) which is used in a simplified link model. Three different communication techniques were compared, direct communications, multi-hop technique and the combination of both multi-hop and MIMO-technique. The results were presented by showing the received video streams for each technique and the video quality was based on the available capacity.
