International, an increasing number of armed forces apply what is called Capability Based Planning. However, there is no common strategy for Capability Based Planning, nations and organizations make of there variety, although there are common principles. The report aims to provide insight into the phenomenon Capability Based Planning by first describing Capability-based Planning and then two specific concretizations of capability-based planning in the form of the Canadian Armed Forces approach and NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP).
