Abstract

In this report we have compiled possible developments that could have impact on the robustness of the Swedish electricity system. The developments and suggestions for indepth reading are summarized in six different areas: labor and people, energy supply and electricity generation, technology and infrastructure, energy consumption, global trends and climate change. In conclusion, we note that several organizations predict relatively far-reaching changes in the coming period, for example regarding demographics and citizens expectations of working life and social standards. Developments within IT lead to changes in how we use digital devices and communication in a more comprehensive manner, which also affects the electrical system. We believe that three key areas to develop are incentive structures to ensure that preparedness and security still are important parts of the development of the electricity system, attracting workers with the right skills to the electricity sector, and addressing the increasing complexity of analysis and management of risks and vulnerabilities.
