Abstract
By making the information management as a strategic priority and by applying appropriate methods that use information efficiently, an information centric organization can utilize data and information for successful data-driven analysis for strategic purposes. The organizations that focus on what they can do with the data they have access to, will be much more successful than those that do not. Access to the right information at the right time gives decision-makers in the Swedish Armed Forces an increased ability to command and control. A more data-driven approach also enables advanced decision support and promotes information superiority. This feasibility study on information management in the Swedish Armed Forces with focus on "information as a strategic asset" was tasked to create an overview of the situation (a current situation analysis). The work has highlighted the challenges for the Swedish Armed Forces as an organization to become more data-driven, and created a more stable foundation for the forthcoming study to rely on. The preliminary study answers the question of whether it is possible to carry out the study and issues certain recommendations. The preliminary study recommends that a subsequent study start urgently so that the Swedish Armed Forces does not lag behind the rapid development and does not fail to benefit from the potential that exists in this area.
