Abstract

The mobility of a combat vehicle is, next to firepower and protection as well as other capabilities, of crucial importance for its combat effectiveness. This pre-study presents a summary of the current state of knowledge within FOI as well as the overall state of research within the area of mobility. A survey of the existing models for mobility simulations available at FOI has made clear a need for future development of subsystem models within the area of vehicle dynamics as well as the need to develop a suitable methodology to aggregate results from subsystem levels (performance) to military units (combat effectiveness). A methodology to address this has been developed and is presented in the report. Future work should proceed with continued model development and studies of technologies of particular interest.
