Personas - a method for the future? Using Personas in the development of command and control systesms

The current feasibility study aimed to examine whether the Personas method is a useful tool in the development of FMLS 2010, and how it could be adjusted to fit into the systems development process of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). A literature survey of previous applications of personas in system development was followed by an attempt to adjust the method to the context of the Armed Forces. Furthermore, an example of how the method could be used in this context is provided. It is not yet clear in which phase of the overall system development method Personas best will fit. This study shows that Personas is a suitable method for taking care of usability issues. The method is recommended as a tool for providing a usability focus to the development of FMLS 2010, although a further empirical investigation of the method is recommended.
