This report is a literature survey of explosives detection methods, bulk and trace detection sensors as well as standoff detection techniques. Sample collection for trace detection is not a priority for this survey although it is of outmost importance for a complete overview. This report attempts to cover not only existing techniques but also emerging technologies and technologies with possible future potential for explosives detection. However, the area is so wide spread so it cannot be presumed to be complete in any way.
