The role of the Swedish Armed Forces in civil crisis management

The study discusses The Swedish Armed Forces and its future role in the management of civil crisis. A survey was made over contributionsd made since 2001-2007 and a questionnaire was sent to regional and central actors in the crisis management system regarding their view of the Swedish Armed Forces´ contributions. The result shows that the Swedish Armed Forces is an impåortant actor in crises, even if there was a concern about to what extent it will be availablle as a resource when needed. Three key variables were chosen which are estimated as central for the future role of the Swedish Armed Forces in domestic crisis: Direction and regulations, resource availability and extended international cooperation.
