Abstract
The purpose with this report is to summarize the activities within the project Telecommunications for Operations in Urban Environments. The goal for the project has been to show feasible solutions for tactical communications in an urban environment. MIMO technology has been studied since it facilitates high capacity in difficult environments. MIMO-measurements have been performed and analyzed to evaluate the possible capacity gains. Selected system aspects for a communication system have been studied, such as: how the element spacing in an MIMO array affects the capacity, how adaptive coding and modulation should be designed for an OFDMsystem and the pros and cons with crosslayer design. A method to analyse the interference situation at a radio platform has been developed. Furthermore, an overview of channel models for urban environment has been done. Also, a software radio demonstrator was built with commercial hardware and software. Finally, the project participated in a joint demonstration with several other projects from FOI. This report summarizes the activities within the project and gives proposals for future work.
