Abstract

In this report a method for deconvolution of peaks in alpha spectra was evaluated. A prerequisite for good results for a deconvolution is to have spectra with good resolution. This can be achieved by having vacuum during the measurement, and thin enough samples in order to minimize energy losses for the alpha particles between the sample and the detector. Additionally, a large sample-to-detector distance results in an improved resolution. The method was tested on three different materials: 232U, 240Pu and one material containing both 239Pu and 240Pu.
